You may be thinking that having a gear shift is a lost art form as more and more people choose the convenience and ease of an automatic transmission. However according to some research, clutches are still in abundance and there are more manual transmissions in vehicles in Europe.
Driving a manual transmission car really gives you a sense of man v machine.
The clutch separates two plates that control the power between the engine and the gearbox. When we separate the plates by pressing the clutch then we are able to change gear. When you release the clutch the plates move back together and the power flows from the engine to the gearbox and on to the wheels.
Because of the above action clutches are subject to constant wear and tear and the life expectancy of the clutch will be dependant somewhat on the driving habits of the vehicle user.
